Where does HomeRun Install it's files?

The default install location for HomeRun XL 3.5 is C:/HomeRun Software/HomeRun 3.5 Folder for the Main/Server Installation.

The Main executable & configuration files are installed in this location. The Tables and data files are stored in the Data folder in the main folder.

The Workstation installation does not install a data folder. The data folder is the mapped drive of the Server Data location.

See the next item for more information.

How do I install HomeRun on a LAN?

On the main or server computer, this is where the Data folder will be installed, share the HomeRun XL 3.5 folder. Name this share "HomeRunXL35".  Make sure that you set up the Security settings so those accessing the data from the Workstation will be able to do so. See the "Note" below for additional information.

On each workstation computer where HomeRun will run, map a drive to the Main/Server computer. We recommend that for consistency, you map the drive letter the same for all Workstations. For our purposes, we will map the drive as "P"

Note: Networking and Security/Permissions vary by Windows operating system. We recomment you engage a local computer technician to do this part of the installation. If the folder sharing and drive mapping are not done correctly, the program will not work.

I want to install HomeRun on multiple computers. What is allowed?

HomeRun XL 3.5 is a full multi-user program. This means that the program can be installed on a many computers in your office.

The proviso is that all these computers must be installed on the same local network withing the same building using the same one set of data.

How can I access my copy of HomeRun installed at the office from home?

There are many different program that will allow you to do that. However, the best program we found is a program called I'm in Touch from 01com.com. The cost is just a little over $ 100.00 per year.

This is the program we use to access our computer when we're out of the office.

See their web site at www.o1com.com. You can try out a trail version to ensure it will work for you prior to purchasing it.

Aother option is to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network). This option will allow you to run HomeRun in the same manner as a Workstation setup like in your office.

I've just taken a car on trade that I previously sold. How do I find this vehicle in my database?

On the main menu - Click on Data -> Check Duplicate VIN and enter the serial number of the trade. If this VIN is in your table, it will give you the Stock Number of this vehicle.
